Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Endpoint Released

by Silver, 23:52

Starpoint Gemini Warlords is currently 75% off on Steam while the entire series has also been discounted from 50-85% off. Additionally some new DLC for Starpoint Gemini Warlords has been released called 'Endpoint'.

loading...

It's been a few years since Solari Concord successfully established a foothold in Gemini. And they haven't stopped there; a combination of rising military strength and persuasive diplomacy allowed them to become the leading power in Gemini. After such a long turmoil, most factions got exhausted and were eager to side with anyone strong enough to provide some sort of stability.
Gemini Protectorate, successor to legendary Gemini League is cornered and controls only small region of space and another cut off enclave while Concord reaches its borders.

Protectorate High Command is still not ready to yield, but options are few... What will be the price of survival?

Endpoint DLC key features:

- Experience an all-new storyline that follows the unexpected new path of Gemini Protectorate;
- 8 brand new ships design, covering all ship classes with noticeable power edge in each of them;
- Multiple new interesting characters involved with the storyline;
- Story branching where you can choose how you wish to approach challenges in front of you;
- Increased replayability as a result of multiple choices when accepting some story missions;
- Modified planetary assault where players can now strike decisively at the planets alone and automatically seize entire enemy territory when the last planet is conquered.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - New Content Update

by Silver, 21:17

A new update for Starpoint Gemini Warlords brings new content.

New "4K" content update for Starpoint Gemini Warlords!
25 NOVEMBER - DANIJEL

Hello Captains and happy Black Friday!

It's the middle of Steam Autumn sale, and LGM Games is working hard on Starpoint Gemini Warlords updates.

We have grabbed the best suggestions from the community wishlist, and squeezed them into this sizable update which brings a myriad of content.

For starters, the icons in the game look rather tiny on 4K screens, and the community complaining about that part is completely right. Starpoint Gemini Warlords unfortunately doesn't have scalable UI, which is a real and understandable issue. This update brings overhauled user interface, which is now clear and easily readable on those massive 4K screens.

Two completely free ships from Starpoint Gemini 2

Moving on, we are bringing two ships from Starpoint Gemini 2 completely for free. Community wishes have been granted; Myrmidon and Bishop are coming to Starpoint Gemini Warlords!

But wait, there's more!

We have browsed through the discussion boards on Steam, and marked several really good ideas, that can help regarding more fluid gameplay.

Starting from the basics, we've added more optimizations into the code which leads to less crashes and happier Starpoint Gemini Warlords players.

One of the most popular wishes among the players was to add a distance on Quick Scan feature, and several additional hints. Those new features help in terms of better orientation in the game world, and offer better information regarding the target.
Last but not the least, the zoom feature in the map has been tweaked. The map zoom doesn't reset itself when player re-enters the map, which saves time (and nerves).

Thank you for your attention, and safe travels!

Starpoint Gemini Warlords: Cycle of Warfare DLC out now on Steam

Starpoint Gemini franchise up to 85% off during Iceberg Publisher weekend right now

Zagreb, Croatia, October 5th 2017. LGM Games and Iceberg Interactive are incredibly excited to announce that the third, and by far the biggest Starpoint Gemini Warlords DLC, Cycle of Warfare is available now on Steam.

Cycle of Warfare brings five new playable factions, new ways to play the game and exponentially increased replayability which combined offers more than 100 hours of new Conquest and Scenario gameplay.

In the spotlight of the DLC is the unforgiving alien race bent on humanity's extinction.

Meet the fearless and brutal A'shriari.

The A'shriari are convinced that the only way to complete victory is a brutal "scorched earth" military strategy. Their massive mothership is capable of burning entire planets, vaporizing all means of sustaining life.

Of course, if you have a different taste when it comes to space flights, you can choose the life of an ambitious privateer and lead your clan to wealth and glory.

Both challenges modify the game's rules in different ways, moving away from empire management towards riskier gameplay.

Key features

  • Five new playable factions;
  • The game can be played from a lot of new perspectives;
  • The replayability is increased exponentially;
  • Over 100 hours of new Conquest and Scenario gameplay;
  • Fly and command capital ships of an exclusive new alien shipline, from gunships to carriers;
  • Vanquish all human life from the Gemini system by shutting down all of the infrastructure;
  • Fire a massive weapon directly from their mothership, burning planets and vaporizing all means of sustaining life.

Owners of the base game also get completely free content. Players will encounter rare enemy alien ships which will drop epic equipment.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Cycle of Warfare DLC

by Myrthos, 21:35

The Cycle of Warefare DLC for Starpoint Gemini Warlords, will be available on October 5th. Here is the press release that has reached us with this news:

Starpoint Gemini Warlords: Cycle of Warfare DLC releases on 5 October 2017

Zagreb, Croatia, September 27, 2017 Following fantastic reception with the previously released DLC, Titans Return, LGM Games is proud to announce the biggest piece of DLC content ever developed by the studio, Cycle of Warfare.

The DLC brings four biggest features that dramatically update the gameplay:

  • Five new playable factions;
  • The game can be played from a lot of new perspectives;
  • The replayability is increased exponentially;
  • Over 100 hours of new Conquest and Scenario gameplay.

In the Cycle of Warfare DLC players will be able to start their conquest over the Gemini system as one of three other established factions, each contending with their own rivals and advantages; Iolian Pact, Korkyra and Outerlands.

These conquest scenarios can be easily modified in-game to allow the players to customize their own starting advantage as they see fit.

Aside from regular conquest, players will find that we've added two amazing "challenge scenarios" for more experienced players:

  • Play as the A'shriari. The unforgiving alien race bent on humanity's extinction.
  • ... or choose the life of an ambitious privateer and lead your clan to wealth and glory.

Both challenges modify the game's rules in different ways, moving away from empire management towards riskier gameplay.

The A'shriari are convinced that the only way to complete victory is a brutal "scorched earth" military strategy. Their massive mothership is capable of burning entire planets, vaporizing all means of sustaining life.

In short:

In the A'shriari scenario players will experience what it's like to:

  • Fly and command capital ships of an exclusive new alien shipline, from gunships to carriers;
  • Vanquish all human life from the Gemini system by shutting down all of the infrastructure;
  • Fire a massive weapon directly from their mothership, burning planets and vaporizing all means of sustaining life.

We are also adding new, completely free content for the owners of the base game. Players will encounter rare enemy alien ships which will drop epic equipment.

The Cycle of Warfare DLC will be available on 5 October 2017 on Steam, GOG and GamersGate platforms.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Interview

by Hiddenx, 09:15

Gamewatcher has interviewed Little Green Men Games about the future of the Starpoint Gemini franchise:

Starpoint Gemini: Warlords - An Interview With Little Green Men Games

It's difficult to gauge just how long children have grown up hearing stories of the stars. Common-place with amateur telescopes, elementary school science lessons and even mobiles hanging above the cribs of new-born babies; we're told of space, the stars, and astronauts almost as soon as we come into this planet orbiting just another star.

Starpoint Gemini: Warlords in a nutshell? Michael called it "Mount & Blade in space"

So it should come as little surprise that the dawn of video games has meant we're able to somewhat realise our childhood ambition of shooting off into space and discovering all sorts of unexplainable phenomena, black holes, and the site of the moon landing. Conjuring up such experiences comes Croatia-based game development studio Little Green Men Games - a fitting name for a team so heavily invested in space-based video games. Whether they're actual aliens wasn't a question we dared ask.

Having put out Starpoint Gemini: Warlords back in May of this year, we sat down with Mario Mihoković - CEO/Sound designer/Story Writer extraordinaire, community manager Zeno Zokalj and Igor Gajic, their head of PR/Marketing to ask about the past, present, and future of the Starpoint Gemini franchise.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Titans Return Launched

by Myrthos, 22:24

The Titans Return DLC for Starpoint Gemini Warlords has been released today and is available on Steam.

Zagreb, Croatia, 10 August 2017. Following an amazing reception by releasing the Titans Return teaser trailer, LGM Games is proud to announce that the Titans Return DLC launches today, August 10th 2017.

"Titans have once ruled Gemini and it is time for them to emerge once again. Gemini has been quite forthcoming with Concord expansions, seemingly disunited and conflicting among themselves, but is there more to it?

Reveal the Mystery surrounding the Titans and their reappearance. Explore occurrences from the historical events of Gemini and deal with their consequences first hand.

With the evolution of new technologies, old Titan sizes have become far too common, resulting in the stripping of their class and re-branding them into the current versions of Battleships, Dreadnoughts and Carriers.

But the time has come again for Titans to rule the Gemini. Foreign technologies allow yet another jump in size and power, so it is time for Titans to return to their rightful place."

Titans Return DLC is the biggest and most ambitious piece of content the studio has created since the release of Starpoint Gemini Warlords, that offers up to 10 hours of brand new story-driven gameplay.

Key features

  • Experience an all-new storyline;
  • More than 15 hours of new gameplay content;
  • Three new Titan ships: Defiance, Legion and Juggernaut PLUS one free Titan coming to everyone as a free update;
  • New conquest mechanics connected to the storyline;
  • Command Titan-class vessels in either Campaign or any of the Free-roam scenarios;
  • New Free-roam scenario designed for immediate Titan-ready content;
  • Unique "ultimate-aura" passive abilities of each of the Titan ships;

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Patch 1.110

by Myrthos, 22:11

A new patch has been released for Starpoint Gemini Warlords, bringing it to version 1.110. It is also available at a discount at Steam.

Salutations captains!

With the end of the week coming, we bring you some fixes and some changes so you'll enjoy the weekend even more!
Most of the work in this patch was focused on bug fixes and polishing, but we've made some improvements too. We've changed the mining aspect of the game so it's more rewarding and fun to do. We've increased the base amount of Ore yielded when mining asteroids, the Miner perks give a considerably larger boost, and some asteroid fields, depending on the asteroid composition, will yield even Materials and Gas!
Secondly, we've also improved the Anomaly Scan and Distress Call Encounter Quests so they're more fun and rewarding. The new Encounter Quests are expanded upon so there's more incentive to finish them, and the resources and experience gain is scaled better so there's better incentive to take on quests even in late-game.

The complete changelog can be found at the link.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Review @ COG

by Hiddenx, 08:58

COG has reviewed Starpoint Gemini Warlords:

Starpoint Gemini Warlords Review – A Huge Galactic Adventure

Starpoint Gemini Warlords Review

If you love the open-world sandbox of a game like Mount and Blade, and wish it were set in space, then you’re in luck – Starpoint Gemini Warlords brings the sandbox experience to space sims on the PC. Head out into space in your own starship, fight battles, and build your fleet into a force to be reckoned with – Warlords is a chance for any Star Trek fan to live out their fantasies. You’ll love the freedom and sheer amount of things to do, despite an imperfect combat element that kills the fun at times.

[...]

It is always hard to properly evaluate a big sandbox game because it is all about the freedom of roaming and – let’s face it – wasting countless hours aimlessly. My relatively short experience thus far with Starpoint Gemini Warlords has me pretty impressed; play it as an RPG in space, a 4X game, or just explore endlessly without a plan – there’s a lot of choice in how you enjoy it. One thing is for sure: it will be a long time before you ever feel bored.

Score: 80/100

The Good

  •     Huge open world
  •     Lots of things to do

The Bad

  •     Terrible combat

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Review @ Geeksnack

by Hiddenx, 00:23

Farflame spotted a Starpoint Gemini Warlords review at Geeksnack:

Starpoint Gemini Warlords Review – From Lowly Freelancer to Galactic Emperor

Space: the final frontier. Also, a great setting if you’re looking to create an in-depth sim that combines several vastly different genres into one coherent package. Not an easy thing to do, mind you, but it can certainly be done and Starpoint Gemini Warlords is the perfect example of this. Improving upon the formula established in their previous titles, developer Little Green Men Games and publisher Iceberg Interactive took fan feedback to heart and crafted an intricate space sim that borrows aspects from some of the best titles in the genre while still maintaining a rather unique feel. It’s not the most original concept out there but it works, and in a day and age when good space sims are few and far between, Starpoint Gemini Warlords is a breath of fresh air for fans of the genre.

[...]

All these different elements tie in surprisingly well with each other whether it’s scavenging derelicts for resources to be used towards base building, taking your fleet into hostile territory to capture structures that can later be incorporated into your ever-growing empire or investing resources into research that will make your troops more efficient at capturing enemy ships. It’s quite surprising that Starpoint Gemini Warlords manages to blend together so many genres in such a seamless way. The drawback here is that some of the systems aren’t as complex as they would have been if this was a traditional space sim. As a result, Starpoint Gemini Warlords can sometimes feel like a jack of all trades, master of none type of game, though not in a bad way. By combining all these different things and getting most of them right, the developers managed to create a fairly unique experience with this game.

It may not be the best space sim, RPG or 4X game, but it’s certainly one of the best titles to combines all these different genres into one cohesive product. Starpoint Gemini Warlords is greater than the sum of its parts and makes for a very compelling and immersive experience when everything is said and done. It’s also worth noting that the game only recently got out of Early Access and, if similar titles are anything to go by, Starpoint Gemini Warlords is just beginning its journey and is likely to get bigger and more polished as time moves on. Even at this stage, though, Starpoint Gemini Warlords is a must-play for fans of the series and anyone who enjoys a good space game.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Review @ Altchar

by Hiddenx, 09:20

Altchar has reviewed Starpoint Gemini Warlords:

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Space junker debrief | Review

Starpoint Gemini Warlords is a marvelous space sim blended with various other genres, but an oversight at the core of progression design might put the best parts of the experience just out of reach for most players.

Going into Starpoint Gemini Warlords and, especially, during its brief tutorial, I was left under the impression that I could fly around space, have some adventures, explore anomalies, and engage in space battles, while at the same time leading a small upstart empire to domination and glory. The former is true on a technical level, but it lacks variety and manages to frustrate where it should engage. The latter is made near impossible by a resource bottleneck that felt more like a dispassionate stranglehold than part of a sensible progression curve.

[...]

If Starpoint Gemini Warlords is to be your first venture into space sims, then I would suggest you get acquainted with the genre elsewhere. For more experienced pilots and fleet admirals, Gemini is a unique blend of space combat and trading sim, a 4X strategy and an RPG very much worth a look. Most of the problems the game has at this point, are a matter of fine tuning functional systems that are already in place. Given a few patches most of my grievances could be a thing of the past, but with the state in which the game is now, it's an adventure for hard-core space junkers only.

Thanks Farflame!

by Silver, 02:24

Starpoint Gemini Warlords has been launched on Steam and GOG.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords LAUNCHED!

Yes, the day has arrived. After roughly 40 updates during Early Access, some smaller, some larger, some massive... Starpoint Gemini Warlords has left the relative safety of the Early Access harbor and has begun its long-awaited voyage of full release.

First and foremost, all of us here at LGM Games wish to thank everyone who purchased the game in Early Access, everyone who helped us during production with their thoughts, suggestions, critique, testing, bug-hunting or by sending us their game log files. Your help and support have been amazing and we cannot thank you enough.

What's in this v1.000 update?
Now that the mushy part is done, let's check out the launch update. The big deal of this update is the storyline. The scenario is simply called CAMPAIGN and our advice would be to start the game anew. A lot of changes have been made in almost all segments of the game and starting fresh is the best option.

You'll also notice that the Freeroam, Freeroam+ and Freeroam++ scenarios are gone. They have been replaced by five distinct starting scenario which, I hope you'll agree, are an improvement.

A whole lot of balances, tweaks, fixes and additions have been done as well, but I'll leave that for the complete change-log which, as always, you can find in the discussion board. The old Update thread is now entering a well-deserved retirement and we're switching to a new system where each update will sport it's own thread to make things more readable.

What's next on the plate?
Simply put: updates, both smaller and larger. I'm certain that the diligent captains of the community will have plenty of things to report, be it glitches, full-on bugs or tweak and balancing requests and we most certainly have an obligation to respond. That is the priority. We thank you in advance for your patience as we steamroll through Your reports. Any reported critical issues will naturally have priority, but we're confident that we'll have more than just fixes in each update we release.

How about some additional content?
That's also on the agenda, BUT NOT RIGHT AWAY. There's a staggering amount of different configurations out there in the 'verse and such issues will be among the first to be addressed. Additional content, either in the form of free content updates or as paid DLCs are something that comes afterwards.

Thank you once again from me personally for putting up with my typos, for forgetting to write entries in the update change-logs and for my sometimes silly or outright stupid questions in the discussions.

Enjoy Gemini and give your enemies hell!

But, above all else, safe travels captains :)

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Interview

by Hiddenx, 10:04

GameWatcher has interviewed Little Green Men Gaming’s Director and CEO, Mario Mikohovic  about Starpoint Gemini Warlords:

Starpoint Gemini Warlords: An Interview With Little Green Men Gaming's Mario Mikohovic

Starpoint Gemini Warlords is hard to pin down as far as what exactly it should be in one genre. At first glance it’s a space-sim RPG. You fly through the universe, interacting with the distinct factions of Gemini through means of diplomacy and/or aggression as the situation and your skills dictate. However, it doesn’t end there. Once the battle is over, there’s alliances, space stations, and the ownership of sectors to consider. You won’t just be exploring the Gemini system. You’ll be fighting to unify, survive, or conquer it.

It’s this level of multiple interesting angles that puts Starpoint Gemini Warlords on a level far more complex than the games that came before it. We played Starpoint Gemini Warlords at PAX South and have been enjoying it in Steam Early Access since, but there is a lot to unpack here as far as what you can do and how. Luckily, GameWatcher was able to get ahold of Little Green Men Gaming’s Director and CEO, Mario Mikohovic. Mario was kind enough to share with us about how this game expanded so immensely from Starpoint Gemini 2 and how community interaction has built up the game, not to mention launch and post-launch plans for Starpoint Gemini Warlords.

[...]

GameWatcher: Warlords is said to give more direct control to the player in control of their ship in a deeper sort of action-RPG system than previous games, but you don’t necessarily lose out on controlling fleets like you could before. How has this translated over to Warlords? Why the transition away from the style of the first two games?

Mikohovic: A lot of the transition from what we had in the original games came from the aforementioned community engagement. Our fans were very vocal about what they wanted to see as they played through early builds. For instance, they would take their ships into sectors, battle all these enemies, and win. That led some of them asking, “What if I could conquer this sector and control it?” They wanted some kind of permanence for the victories. So that pushed us to move towards creating opportunities for defeating enemies in an area, establishing a base, creating light building sim elements for base and structure management, and including likewise light 4X elements of claiming parts of the universe and building your faction up. There are lots of examples of these things that we chose to pursue as a result of community interaction that made Warlords into something very much bigger than it was initially.

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Core Gameplay Changes

by Silver, 05:40

Starpoint Gemini Warlords has gone through a big mechanics change and added some new content as detailed on this changelog.

New skill system
We've purged the old skill system from the game and introduced a brand new one. You will retain all your skill points from your existing saves, but you'll have to distribute your skill points anew. Progression is still similar as in you gain a skill point each time you level-up and you can then use these points to upgrade skills. Each character class has four unique skills (the fourth is unlocked on higher levels), but also a special passive class-specific bonus.

Enter the Gladiatrix
The first Gladiatrix arena is in! It's nicely located in Phaehana, between Phaeneros and Concordia. If you've played Starpoint Gemini 1, then you more or less know what the deal is. Simply talk to the arena Quartermaster to get in on the action. If a picture is worth a thousand words, what does that mean for a video?

Rounding up the Outerlands
Two new Outerlands ships are added to finalize their fleet. You can obtain these in several places, but to make things easier, we've greatly expanded on what ships are available for purchase both on Concordia and on Phaeneros. This is a temporary measure to make it possible for you fine ladies and gentlemen to give each ship a go. You still have to purchase them of course.

Hidden vaults
Scattered around Gemini are the so-called Artefact vaults. If you scan these, you'll get a nifty prize. Existing saves will work without a problem since the vaults are added in.

[...]

...
All of this is our first iteration of those changes and we are looking forward to your feedback to improve upon those changes or change the direction entirely if needed. After playing for awhile with the new system please go to the discussion board and share your feedback and opinions, if you wish of course.

The affected areas of change are:

  • skills
  • NPC AI behaviour
  • ship stats
  • ship acceleration and speed
  • Sublight speed
  • power core, cloak and various other subsystem tweaks
  • light and heavy weapons

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Big Update

by Hiddenx, 14:33

A huge update for the Space Sim/RPG Starpoint Gemini Warlords has been released:

Greetings captains!

Time for a new content-heavy update! As usual, we have a standard assortment of bug-fixes and tweaks, but wait! There's more! If you get the update now, you'll also unlock new ships, new station models, new GUI functionality, hangars and much much more! Well, you'll actually get all this in any case, whenever you get the update...

To make things easier, here's a very short list of the new stuff:

  • Hangar interiors - see your ship in a different light. Literally...
  • Paint your ship - get expressive and go nuts with colors... if that's your thing... You can always just leave it as-is and smack a sticker on the "hood".
  • New ships - We can never have enough of those. Curtesy of the Outerlands this time.
  • New station models - to round up the Outerlands, but there are also some additional new models.
  • Hailing ships - In space, no-one can hear you scream... unless you hail them first.
  • Steam trading cards - Some care, some don't, but the cards are here to stay. We hope you have fun collecting them!

loading...

I've got another important thing to mention, ladies and gents so let's talk about the updated EULA and Google Analytics. We've implemented this bit into the game. The Analytics monitors what you're doing in the game COMPLETELY ANONYMOUSLY and sends that data over. You can easily turn this feature off through the GameLauncher->Settings panel, but it's important that we emphasize that the feature is ON by default.

There's more new stuff, but I'll leave that in the full change-log which you can find on the discussion board or by simply clicking here.

We've got some major changes planned for the next couple of updates, but we'll share that info in a little while.

Stay tuned and safe travels, captains!

Starpoint Gemini Warlords - Content Update

by Myrthos, 18:10

The third content update for the strategy-RPG Starpoint Gemini Warlords, currently in Early Access, has been made available.

Little Green Men has released a massive content update for Starpoint Gemini Warlords. All strategists, RPG fans, and lovers of space battles can now enjoy tons of extra new features in the Early Access version of the game.

With E3 2016 now behind us it's time to get back to normality, which for space-sim fans out there means getting behind their spaceship console again and re-visiting Gemini universe. Especially because they can now expect to find lots of new, cool features at their disposal.

Wondering what the developers have prepared for you exactly? Watch the brand new gameplay trailer, that shows not only what's new in the latest update, but all the features that have been introduced to the game since its Early Access launch. And if you haven't bought the Early Access version of the game yet, then it's probably one of the best moments to.
(Editors note: The link provided in the press release goes to a dead end, so the video is not to be found at the moment.)

Starpoint Gemini Warlords is a unique blend of space sim, RPG, and 4X games. You'll be able to conduct research and construction in your own gigantic space station, command your war fleets and heroic companions to invade enemy territory, build up your stronghold, trade, mine, salvage, and remind your enemies why they should be afraid of you.

Created from the feedback and suggestions of the highly active player community, Starpoint Gemini Warlords is everything which players asked for in Starpoint Gemini 2 but that was simply too extensive to be added at that point. The developers have worked hard on introducing new features to the game on a regular basis, and this is what they've managed to release in the latest update:
  • Two new station models (Kepler & Holocom HQ) have been added.
  • Nyxian Consortium fleet was created with five new ships.
  • Two new Freelance job types are now available.
  • The auto-repair facility has also been built into the game.
  • The off-world prison structure has been added.
  • A lot of new loot drops have been added for more diversity, easier modding, and balancing.
  • Europa and Neptune can now be purchased at the Atlantean station.
  • Nibiru, Jupiter, and Eridan can be purchased on planet Nyx.
  • The new Perk system has been implemented.
  • The option to hunt down a wanted criminal has also been added.
  • You can now construct resource structures (Reclaimers, Mining operations, and Gas collectors at this point).
  • A completely new encounter system has been implemented as well.
And this is only a part of the list! To check out all the changes that this update has brought, click THIS LINK and see what a massive job the developers have done!

Startpoint Gemini Warlords - On Steam EA

by Myrthos, 13:03

The successor to Starpoint Gemini 2, which is Startpoint Gemini Warlords, is now available on Steam Early Access.

Humans, fleeing from the ruined Solar system trickled into Gemini in rag-tag convoys, their ships barely holding together. Planet Phaeneros, located in the farthest reaches of the Gemini system, abandoned long before Gemini gained its independence, will become their new home... your new home. You should prepare for what's coming, captain. The Solari Concord needs you!

TWO MODES OF PLAY

The campaign mode continues the story from Starpoint Gemini 2 after the Gemini Protectorate and its allies managed to fend off the Brotherhood threat. The Empire, both in their mainspace and in Gemini have been wiped out. Only small pockets of resistance remain. Progress through the storyline at your own pace and make difficult choices along the way, changing how the storyline will ultimately play out.

The conquest mode is for the freeroamers. Strip away the campaign, but leave everything else and you have yourself the conquest mode. Create a story of your own and completely change the face of Gemini!

COMMUNITY DRIVEN

Warlords is a spin-off to our successful space sim Starpoint Gemini 2. The majority of the planned features and implemented ideas came directly from the SG2 community. All the things asked about and requested that we simply couldn't implement in SG2, are now integrated into Warlords. And these are not minor features. We're redoing entire sections of both gameplay and the underlying game engine.

KEY FEATURES

  • Headquarters. Construct and upgrade your own personal space station; a massive structure that enables you to conduct research, build ships, assemble autonomous fleets and much more.
  • Conquer Territory. Gradually expand your reign over unclaimed territory, by battling minor factions, or conquer the entire Gemini sector, by facing off against familiar strong Gemini foes, familiar from the previous Starpoint Gemini titles. Reinforce conquered regions to defend themselves.
  • Conduct Research on simple weapon enhancements, obtain the expertise to construct a titan class behemoth, or boost the effectiveness of your non-combat fleets. Equipment, ship systems, enhancements and ships can still be bought, but he best 'stuff' can only be researched, constructed and improved in your HQ.
  • Construction and research demand the allocation of resources. Gather them by conducting missions for other factions, trade or purchase resources, or conquer regions providing a steady flow of resources, and bonuses.
  • A far larger game world will allow more distinction between ship sizes, pockets of empty space to travel through and your own giant space HQ where ships can be 'parked'.
  • Skill classes, attributed skills and perk progression will be revamped and rebalanced, as will levelling-up, the reputation system and diplomacy.
  • Storyline vs Free-roam: The campaign storyline will be blended in with the more generic conquer quests. Free-roam mode strips all main storyline missions, but leaves side quests and generic freelance missions intact.
  • A full branching dialogue scheme, the industry standard in modern RPGs.
  • Technical additions include: x64 system only, projection mapping, deferred shading, physically based rendering and realistic physics.

Features available in the Early Access version include:

  • The full game world which is almost 10 times larger than the game world in Starpoint Gemini 2.
  • Start with a prologue of the story-line and continue in Conquest mode.
  • Headquarters features about 50% complete.
  • 13 of 19 planned freelance mission types are in. Roughly half the modifiers too.
  • 50% of planned ships are in (approx. 40).
  • 60% of random encounter types are present. Roughly half the modifiers too.
  • 1 of 4 character classes.
  • Most of the ship's equipment and weapons.
There is a massive feature list available on the forums that will be implemented during Early Access.
