We haven't been following Grotesque Tactics 2 too closely but here's a hands-on preview from Platform Nation:

Quests usual feature witty banter between your character and the NPCs and for the most part consist of the usual variety of fetch quests and boss bounties found in many fantasy RPG’s. Along with these quests you will also be tasked with making a variety of foods to please the various denizens of the underground kingdom the game uses as its hub. There’s also a guild system that will have you recruiting unique companions that will help you along your quest against the Fog that is invading the land. The snide comments and banter made by your companions is what really makes the sometimes repetitive adventuring worthwhile.

Worthplaying has a v1.2.0.4 patch for Grotesque Tactics. This latest patch only makes a few tweaks but it looks like the 1.2.0.3 patch before made quite a few improvements.

Alrik writes that Grotesque Tactics 2: Dungeons & Donuts is expected in the third quarter. according to PC Games.de.  Apparently the sequel will focus on better graphics and the criticisms of the original.

"Short on features and depth" is the verdict for Grotesque Tactics at Out of Eight, where their review score is 5/8:

Grotesque Tactics - Evil Heroes needs to be more complete: the tactical battles can be interesting later in the campaign, but the path to that point is linear and repetitive, apart from some freedom in choosing the order of targets during each mission. The base of the game is just fine: the turn-based combat utilizes the terrain well and you can engage varied enemies using a number of special abilities and attacks. Unfortunately, that number is “two”, and special abilities are automatically triggered with no input from the user. This decreases the strategic depth of the game immensely, though Grotesque Tactics becomes more interesting when you have your full party of nine warriors available simply because of the increased variety of actions. Undesired positioning before combat is also objectionable, and you are quite limited in the amount of items you can equip at one time. The campaign is too linear, offering up the same encounters each time you play. The mission objectives are almost always to reach some target unit by defeating all of the enemies along the way. Like a lot of role-playing games, there is a lot of text dialogue to ignore and skip past, though it is occasionally humorous. Once you are done with the campaign, there isn’t anything else to do, as Grotesque Tactics lacks cooperative multiplayer and random skirmish battles. Typical role-playing features abound: experience unlocks more attacks and better stats, and there are new items to find during quests. While Grotesque Tactics isn’t technically a bad game, it just doesn’t offer enough to differentiate itself from the large swarm of role-playing titles.

Worthplaying has a v1.1.5.0 patch for Grotesque Tactics.  The patch notes are in German, so I'm unsure if this suits all versions.

GameBanshee has a review of Silent Dreams' turn-based tactics game, Grotesque Tactics.  They give it a "mild recommendation" and here's  snip:

As you can probably guess, Grotesque Tactics is not a serious game. You fight silly creatures like albino tigerbunnies and chubby fairies, the women all wear skimpy clothing and require rescuing, and your companions show far more interest in stealing gold and taking baths than they do in defeating the Dark Church. The humor is a definite plus for Grotesque Tactics, and it does just enough to keep the game entertaining for its 15-hour playing time.

It looks like Silent Dreams has released Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes in German, and the English version is dated for April.

This thread has the full details (scroll down) - apparently the game was released on February 22nd without enough fanfare to reach our ears.  The game is 20 Euro and there is a (German) demo available.  As an interesting side detail, apparently Grotesque Tactics was programmed by Carsten Edenfeld, a former lead from Piranha Bytes on the Gothic series.  There's also a v.1.0.0.3 patch available.

Silent Dreams let us know they have released the first footage of their humorous indie strategy RPG, Grotesque Tactics.  The Youtube clip offers four minutes of gameplay.

Remember Grotesque, the humorous RPG-in-development by Silent Dreams?  You may recall they switched over to a turn-based tactics RPG called Grotesque Tactics to generate some income to feed back to the "main" game.  Silent Dreams sent us this PR, announcing Grotesque Tactics is only a few weeks away:

What do Grotesque Tactics: Evil Heroes, Torchlight, World of Goo and Plants vs Zombies have in common? They re all high quality independent games, which were developed without any publishers and offered on their own homepage. The player represents Drake - a depressive commander in a dark leather jacket, who is sometimes called an emo, what he always denies vehemently. Drake was only one step away from committing suicide and hurling himself into the throat of a brutal mushroom, because he wasn t allowed to join the battle, due to the fact that he failed at his military exam. Then the arrogant hero Holy Avatar appears in his shining armor and explains Drake, that he and his semi-divine humble self have more important things to do: Preventing the kingdom of Glory from being conquered by the evil sect of the Dark Church, which slaughtered the whole army of Glory a few hours ago. Now there are no heroes left, who could be recruited for this adventure, so Drake will have to get along with serial killers, thieves and other dubious creatures like, for example, women!

The ironical Grotesque Tactics, which parodies role playing cliches, is also different in other points. The developers of Silent Dreams are back to the roots of old turn based games. With examples like the Nintendo classic game  Fire Emblem  or  Jagged Alliance  west & east RPG elements come together in one game. You can control a up to ten headed party, round based, on nine totally different maps (which will be visited more than once). Every character also has its own advantages and disadvantages. But instead of building castles like in  Heroes of Might & Magic  Grotesque Tactics is a real RPG with a dense storyline and funny multiple choice conversations, which will remind of humorous games like  Monkey Island . Your party members need to be found at first, for example the half naked virgins, which have to be rescued out of the claws of evil.
The Evil Heroes are leveled up like in other games. They learn some special attacks, find some valuable treasures in dark dungeons or rainy woods, buy and sell weapons, armor and potions and fight against grotesque creatures like very evil saber-toothed tiger-rabbits!
