Low Magic Age - Patch v0.91.66

by Hiddenx, 18:43

Patch v0.91.66 for Low Magic Age introduces a new player race: The Lizard Scion

v0.91.66 Patch Notes - Lizard Scion, Feats, New Adventure Preview #3

New Player Race: Lizard Scion

Every few generations, a lizard scion is born to a lizardfolk tribe. With twice the life span of a typical lizardfolk and a large and muscular stature, a scion typically rises to become the leader of her tribe.

Lizardfolk show great—often unquestioning—devotion to scions, believing they are blessings from the spirits and divine in nature. In many ways, tribes see them as living monuments to the lost greatness of their people, singing songs of an era when every lizardfolk was as large and impressive as the scion.

Some lizard scions become great protectors and voices of wisdom among their people, leading a tribe to previously unknown accomplishments and stability within its hidden enclave. Others attempt to build alliances with other lizardfolk tribes or even unite two tribes into one.

Low Magic Age - New Class: Druid

by Hiddenx, 15:38

With patch v0.91.52 Low Magic Age gets a new class - The Druid:

v0.91.52 Patch Notes - Druid, Elementals

New Class: Druid - One who draws energy from the natural world to cast divine spells and gain strange magical powers.

Druids cast divine spells much the same way clerics do, though most get their spells from the power of nature rather than from deities. Their spells are oriented toward nature and animals. In addition to spells, druids gain an increasing array of magical powers, including the ability to take the shapes of animals, as they advance in level.

Major Class Features:

Animal Companion
At 1st level, a druid gains an animal companion selected from the following list: badger, camel, dire rat, dog, riding dog, horse (light or heavy), pony, snake (Small or Medium viper), or wolf.

This animal is a loyal companion that accompanies the druid on her adventures as appropriate for its kind.

A druid’s animal companion is superior to a normal animal of its kind and has special powers.

A druid of sufficiently high level can select her animal companion from one of the following lists:

Level 4+: Ape, Black bear, Bison, Boar, Cheetah, Dire badger, Dire weasel, Leopard, Monitor lizard, Constrictor snake, Large viper snake, Wolverine.
Level 7+: Brown bear, Dire wolverine, Giant crocodile, Deinonychus, Dire ape, Dire boar, Dire wolf, Lion, Rhinoceros, Huge viper snake, Tiger.
Level 10+: Polar bear, Dire lion, Megaraptor, Giant constrictor snake.
Level 13+: Dire bear, Elephant.
Level 16+: Dire tiger, Triceratops, Tyrannosaurus.

Wild Shape
At 5th level, a druid gains the ability to turn herself into any Small or Medium animal and back again once per day. The new form can be any animal she is familiar with. But its Hit Dice can’t exceed her druid level. At 8th level, she gains the ability to take the shape of a Large animal, a Tiny animal at 11th level, and a Huge animal at 15th level.

She acquires the physical qualities of the new form while retaining her own mind. Physical qualities include natural size, movement speed, natural armor bonus, natural weapons, Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores, plus extraordinary special attacks. But at the same time, the new form will limit the ability to speak, cast spells and use manufactured weapons, etc.

Wild Shape: Elemental
At 16th level, a druid becomes able to use wild shape to change into a Small, Medium, or Large elemental (air, earth, fire, or water) once per day. At 20th level, she may use this wild shape ability to change into a Huge elemental.

These elemental forms are in addition to her normal wild shape usage. In addition to the normal effects of wild shape, the druid gains all the elemental’s extraordinary, supernatural, and spell-like abilities. She also gains the elemental’s feats for as long as she maintains the wild shape, but she retains her own creature type.

Low Magic Age - Details on Next Update

by Silver, 11:37

An update about Low Magic Age and what is being worked on at the moment.

Next Update

Hi! Adventurers,

Recently, some enthusiastic players asked about the current development situation of Low Magic Age and when the next update comes ;)

At present, we are working on the story-line, including the dialogue module and the main/side quest module, at full stretch. These complex modules need 1-2 extra months to complete, more or less.

The reason for postponing other game contents and developing the story first is that many new game contents need the cooperation of the story module. For example, various guilds, banks, urban construction and management, and crafting in the adventure mode, etc., all these features need to come with stories or quests to be more complete and interesting, rather than abruptly added into the game.

Thank you again for your support and patience! See you next update.

Low Magic Age - Notice for Price Increase

by Silver, 15:03

Low Magic Age will increase its price after the Summer Sale has concluded. Low Magic Age is currently 40% Off.

Notice for Price Increase

Hello Adventurers,

First of all, thank you for your long-term support and help! Thank you for your feedback and suggestions that help us to improve LMA!

The adventure mode that has been developed for nearly a year has finally been released, and we will continue to improve it to make it more playable. Of course, the updates of other game features will also be followed up simultaneously.

As we said in the Early Access statement, we started the EA stage of LMA at a low price to thank players who have been supporting and caring about us since the prototype stage. As the game develops, the price will be gradually increased until the full release. Therefore, after the current discount event and the Summer Sale (same discount), we intend to increase the game price from 6 US dollars to 10 US dollars.

Thanks again for your continuous support!

Low Magic Age - Adventure Preview #12

by Silver, 02:02

Low Magic Age talks about its adventure preview for the last time. Expect the first version of adventure mode March or April. Screenshots are at the link provided.

Adventure Preview #12 (the final one)

Day/Night and Camping

The most direct effect of the day and night alternation to the adventurers is the scope changing of the field of vision. Beware of wandering monsters out of sight when traveling at night.

In the case of sufficient supply, your adventure party can take a rest at any time of the day to restore damage caused by combat and exploration. If there is no rest for a day, your party will automatically consume a supply and take a rest at the end of the day.

Jurisdiction and Subordination

Various settlements will form the relationship of jurisdiction and subordination according to their size. Villages generally belong to nearby cities, and cities may govern a number of villages. The population, prosperity, and various supplies of settlements under the relationship will interact with each other.

Fortresses are an exception. As a military stronghold, a fortress generally belongs to a nearby city, thus obtaining the supplies needed. But fortresses do not have the civilian population, do not accept block trade, and generally do not accept adventurers' visit, unless visitors have considerable prestige and have a good relation with the city which the fortress belongs to.

The Final Preview?

Up to now, 12 previews of the adventure mode have been issued, basically including all the planned contents of the first version of the adventure mode. Of course, there are plenty of details that are difficult to show. We'll leave them to our adventurers to explore and experience personally ;)

The first version is expected to be released in March or April this year. ( Wish all the best in follow-up development. No bug storms, no energy exchanges between planes, and no alien kidnappings, etc. haha ;)

Low Magic Age - 40% off Sale

by Silver, 03:41

The latest update for Low Magic Age is Adventure Preview #10 which explains some features of the yet to be released Adventure campaign. Low Magic Age is currently 40% off until January 28th.

Adventure Preview #10

27 December, 2017 - Low Magic Studios
Advanced Facilities in Cities

Unlike small villages that are sparsely populated and slow growing, adventurers can do much more in prosperous big cities: more formal adventure gear stores, more exciting wondrous item shops, and temples that selling various potions and scrolls.

Low Magic? High Magic?
As the name implies, the main story of Low Magic Age occurs in a low-magic world, at least in the early and middle stages of the adventure. But this does not mean that we must forbid the use of potions, scrolls and other relatively high-magic items. Especially the Potion of Heal and Scroll of Resurrect, they are essential for a smooth adventure. So, in normal and easy game difficulty, we'll allow players to obtain and use these items relatively easily.

This is a typical example of balancing reality and gameplay. Of course, in the meanwhile we will provide more challenging difficulty options that limit the use of these items to bring different adventure experience.

Carrying Capacity and Trading Goods

In the Arena mode, players only need to think about the load condition of the character himself. In the Adventure mode, we added two additional concepts about the load:

1. Carrying capacity of party backpack: All the unused equipment and other adventure gears are stored in the public party backpack. The carrying capacity of party backpack is the sum of party members' carrying capacity.

2. Carrying capacity of trading goods storage: The trading goods storage is an independent space for storing and delivering trading goods. Different from common retail items, trading goods are for wholesaling only. The total weight of goods is often unexpected. So the carrying capacity of trading goods storage must be considered carefully.

Every adventure party is initially equipped with the default trading goods delivery method that provides the carrying capacity usually ten times the base carrying capacity of party. With the adventure goes on, the party can obtain or upgrade to bigger storage and supporting delivery methods.

    About the game:

    Low Magic Age

Low Magic Age is a fantasy RPG that focused on turn-based party-based tactical combat. Field of View, Fog of War, Cover, Zone of Control, Charging and Flanking, various and abundant tactical elements are implemented in the combat system of Low Magic Age.

The game rules are evolved from the Open Game License (OGL), the set of rules based on the pen-n-paper version of fantasy role-playing games of all time, made by Wizards of the Coast.

Normally, you'll create and customize a small party of 4~6 characters: choosing from multiple races, classes, dozens of feats and spells, or choosing a character template directly. And then fight with all kinds of monsters!

    About the devs:

    We are Low Magic Studios

We are a group of happy SLG game enthusiasts, and also big fans of various pen-n-paper role playing game rules.

The Temple of Elemental Evil, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Night, Icewind Dale, Knights of the Chalice, Heroes of Might and Magic, The Battle for Wesnoth, Fire Emblem and Sangokushi Sousouden, these classic games are always in our favorite games list.

Besides computer games, we are keen to read and study all sorts of game rules, especially TRPG game rules that known as the originator of all the fantasy RPG games. Reading rules, making characters, and playing with friends, we use our creativity and imagination to make up limitations of computer games.

After years of accumulating and depositing, we finally have ample knowledge, resources, and development experience. Now we have passion and the ability to make our dream game!
