Game of the Year Awards 2021 - Most Promising RPG
Here are the games our readers and editors look forward to most.
Gamers' Choice and Editors' Runner Up: Baldur's Gate III
The Baldur's Gate series is legendary among CRPG fans. Larian tries to revive it and already started a long Early Access phase. It will be their first game in which the story background is not created by themselves. But after the two hits Divinity: Original Sin I & II we think the new game is in good hands.
Gamers' Runner Up and Editor's Choice: ELEX 2
Piranha Bytes got back in form with ELEX in 2017. Now, more than 4 years later, we expect again a huge world to explore with many factions, interesting characters, lots of quests, challenging enemies and an immersive story.
Gamers' Third Place: Starfield
Starfield is advertised as "Skyrim in Space" by Bethesda - enough to get many open-world fans excited.
Editors' Third Place: Expeditions: Rome
Expeditions: Rome builds on the experience of the two previous games created by Logic Artists to offer a more polished and mature experience.
The story takes place in the Ancient Rome at the time of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra, sending the player in Rome, Asia Minor, Africa, and Gaul to defend the Roman Republic and to secure the fate of his/her own family. We must expect a new strategic dimension, a solid tactical combat and a more gripping story with more in-depth companions.
